Kuwait, March 24 2012 – HE Dr Modhi Abdul Aziz Alhmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education, explains that to date, most education policies in the Arab world have focused on providing education for everyone. This needs to change to include a policy of quality education too. She believes that students need to be equipped with knowledge, technical skills and life skills and to be taught values that include love for one’s country, tolerance, and acceptance of others’ opinions. She highlights the need for planning and equipment and stresses the importance of teacher training as the basis for any reform. She also points out that educational transformation would require the support of the state, as well as transparency and supervision.
